The Strategic Attachment and Training (STRAT) Program, is one of the schemes under Preparing for the Upturn (PREP-UP), an initiative by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). STRAT aims to build up key manpower capabilities in Singapore’s workforce for emerging sectors and activities, through overseas attachment and training with leading companies.

EDB, in conjunction with Hasbro, Inc., is offering training opportunities for eight (8) Toy Designers and two (2) aspiring 3D Animators.

Under this program, the Trainees will be sent to the United States for 12-18 months of training and attachment at Hasbro, Inc. The training is scheduled to commence in February 2010. The Trainees will be paid an allowance for the duration of the training and will be required to serve employment in Singapore-based companies for 2 years upon completion of the training.

We are looking for energetic and dynamic individuals who are well-versed in media and entertainment, and able to collaborate closely with others on creative enterprises. Applicants should want a challenging career in the Toy and Game industry, be Singaporeans or permanent residents of Singapore, be fluent in English and should fulfill the following requirements:

Toy Designers/Developers

• Bachelor degree or professional certificate from a foreign (non-U.S.) post-secondary school academic institution in Industrial Design, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and one (1) year of work experience in the field or five (5) years of prior work experience in the field.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:

• Proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience desired in one or more of the following: Vellum, Alias, Rhino, Flash, Maya or Solidworks
• Professional experience in industrial design
• Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods
• Prior experience in a multi-disciplinary product creation environment
• Project management and team leadership skills

3D Animators

• Bachelor degree or professional certificate from a foreign (non-U.S.) post-secondary school academic institution in Animation or Film Production and one (1) year of work experience in the field or five (5) years of prior work experience in the field
• Requires a strong design sense for character and environments, with the ability to explore and mimic other artists’ styles.
• Experience in traditional drawing
• Proficient with digital tools such as Illustrator and Photoshop
• Experience in Flash and Maya
